The Humps Keep Coming
No matter what we do, it feels like there's a new Hump Day every week, right slap bang in the middle of the whole sorry business. At least we get some comics out of it. Hey, speaking of comics...
WHAT'S OUT TODAY?
Metamorpho: The Element Man #2, that's what!
I wrote this roughly five hundred years ago, subjective time, but as I recall it had a lot of fun jokes in it - there's one zinger about Lonnie Donnegan that Steve loved in particular. What else? We continue our sincere appreciation of the wonderful Bob Haney with a villainous appearance from one of his greatest creations, the Mad Mod, who we've both updated for the now and de-updated for the then, both at the same time! 'Cause that's what we do, Metamaniacs! We have our comics-historical cake and eat every bite!
This is why METAMORPHO is the comic I take the greatest joy in the act of writing - my love for this particular tone and style is the root of my sense of humour, but it's also an honest and deeply held appreciation and I wish people understood that more. It's not a satire on old comics! I honestly think more comics should have thought balloons and chatty omniscient narrators, and one of my most sincere ambitions in the artform is to write the word "yvoorg" into a comic and have someone publish it! That chummy omniscient narrator calling you "Metamaniacs" is the closest you'll ever get to the real me!
Anyway, I couldn't do it without Scintillatin' Steve Lieber on art, Lovely Lee Loughridge on colours and Fabulous Ferran Delgado on lettering, all of them throwing themselves 100% into the project and hopefully providing a solid coffee break's worth of fun in what is increasingly a painful and weary world.
AND ON THAT NOTE...
I'm out. Love and strength to all who need it, and I'll play us out with another missed great from 2024 - it's "I Would Die 4 U" by Lauren Auder with Wendy & Lisa.
